1. definition of the following terms:
  • www- world, wide, web.
  • blog- short for web log. its a personal journal for an individual.
  • internet- a computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide.The Internet includes commercial, educational, governmental, and other networks, all of which use the same set of communications protocols.
  • URL-the address of a web page on the world wide web.
  • modem-  electronic equipment consisting of a device used to connect computers by a telephone line.
  • image- is an artifact, for example a two-dimensional picture, that has a similar appearance to some subject.usually a physical object or a person.
  • GIF- (Graphics Interchange Format) A bitmap image format for pictures with up to 256 distinct colors.
  • PDF- (Portable Document Format) A standard for representing electronic documents, allowing them to be transmitted and reproduced accurately.
  • Embed-  is a term used to describe an object, software, or hardware that is independent and does not need an external program or device to run it. For instance, in Web page design, one can link to or insert a video image or sound file into the page so that it is hyperlinked and clickable.
  • applications-  use of system or product. eg.processors, spreadsheets, media players and database applications.
  • gadget-Microsoft Gadgets are lightweight single-purpose applications, or software widgets, that can sit on a Microsoft Windows user's computer desktop, or are hosted on a web page.
  • cybersafety-  safe use of the Internet and ICT equipment/devices.
  • HTML-hypertext markup language. Is a computer programming language that allows people to create links on the world wide web from one source of information to another in any order.
  •  bitmap image- a type of graphic composed of pixels in a grid.
  • vector image- the creation of digital images through a sequence of demands.
  • flash- a memory device which can hold files.

-The internet was invented in the 1960's
-It was developed by DARPA defence advanced research projects agency.
to share information on defence research between involved universities and defence research facilities.

google as an example of a web map, which prevents you from having to search it on the map books. making it easier to find information needed.

like an essay or target audience. you need to know who your aiming it at. what type of information is given and what its for.

  • Discuss why it is important to test, evaluate and update your website?
    Nobody wants to see the same thing over and over again. Keep adding new pages or information. Encourage visitors to return by announcing "news" to them. It is similarly important to keep deleting old material.
